Design Question
What does luxury look like when it refuses to show off?
Site & Context
Björk is a reservation-only, single tasting menu restaurant at Michelin level. It is made for guests who read luxury through material and spatial simplicity rather than show, and it also serves groups that need a private table.
The room was first imagined as the opposite of a dark, dramatic omakase counter: bright, daylit and calmly Scandinavian. That first result felt flat and lacking in interior design, so the direction moved fully to a warm, quiet evening atmosphere. The project then grew in two steps, adding a garden dining terrace and a long-table room for ten to twelve guests.
Materials & Palette
Solid light oak tables cut in organic ovals, sculptural timber chairs with boucle wool cushions, a dark bronze and anthracite mineral wall lit from below, and polished concrete or honed pale stone underfoot. Matt ceramics, fine wine glasses and linen napkins. Light is warm, low and calm, deliberately softer than a dramatic room.
Design Intent
Björk was designed so that calm is the luxury.
